Key won’t turn, sticks, or the car won’t start? Our expert technicians provide repairs to faulty ignition cylinders and even install new ones that have been re-keyed to match your existing key.
Whether it’s the key itself or the ignition cylinder that isn’t functioning properly, diagnosing an issue with either can leave a driver unsure what to do. But we can help, and we’ll recommend the least invasive solution possible for getting your vehicle back on the road. See more about All Star Car Locksmith.
Worn ignition and worn key are very similar, and we examine both. The problem might be easily solved with just a fresh and crisp key cut rather than replacement of the cylinder, which will be cheaper in this case. If the cylinder’s wafers are worn out or jammed inside the cylinder, it has to be repaired or replaced.
Never try forcing the key out; it will get jammed within the lock itself and an extraction process will have to be performed. Always stop immediately if this occurs.
If there is a way to service the ignition cylinder, repair will bring its full functionality without replacement. Otherwise, the cylinder has to be changed. In some situations, we can change the key to a new cylinder to make sure that it matches your existing key, so you will not be switching between two separate keys for the same car.
