How Programming Works
Every car's on-board computer system maintains a database of
keys/fobs which it will react to. Programming is the process of
adding/removing a fob or transponder from that list., without
programming the freshly new key won't start your car despite it is
unlocking it.
Types of Keys/Fobs We Program
- Lock/unlock/panic/trunk remote fobs
- Programming of transponder keys so your vehicle will accept
the transponder chip (which will activate ignition) as
legitimate
- Programming of proximity or smart keys in cases of cars
equipped with push-to-start technology
- Programming of additional remote fobs purchased
independently
- Ordered a remote fob from the internet? Uncut/unprogrammed
fobs ordered through the Internet cannot be used right away – they
should be delivered to us and then programmed.
Reasons for fob/key malfunctions
- Before you consider having your vehicle completely
re-programmed, check a couple of common causes of fob
malfunction!
- Battery depletion, most common reason why remote stops
functioning; range will reduce but the fob will work at close
distances
- Damage to the housing due to years of being kept in
pocket
- Loss of synchronization, sometimes the fob stops pairing with
the car for some reason and has to be re-paired
- Malfunction of internal circuits
Programming process
- We determine whether the problem is battery-related, remote
malfunction or programming
- In case fob/chip needs to be ordered/replaced, we either
provide you with our stock item or use your own one and cut mechanical
blade
- Program your new key or fob to the vehicle and verify whether
it works
- Test every function on your newly cut and programmed
key
